The actors were very good. I liked the original version of the movie. This movie was ok but took too long to tell the story. I didn't realize that there would be a part two or three to it, until the opening credits. Also, the movie deviated from the original quite a bit. The ending was abrupt and chaotic. I wouldn't pay to see it in the theater but I have HBO max, so I'll be watching it again.

I enjoyed the visual effects- they were mesmerizing. I think that the character development was very slow and dragged on for way longer than necessary. I also though that although the visual effects were awe-inspiring, more time should have been spent on explaining the actual storyline. Watching this, I felt more of an emotional connection to the character of Duncan than to Paul.

I give it 3 stars because the acting was solid, the picture looked beautiful, and the sound design was over the top. However, not being a fan of the Dune novel or knowing much about it, it was very difficult to connect with the movie or the characters. There was so much happening in the film that there was little to no room to develop characters for one to really care about.

I thought the David Lynch version contained more elements from the story.
