Fun, formulaic, watch in the theater for effect, horror flick.

The movie was good, but they should of stayed with the real truth basics since the movie was about the actual true events in Conjuring movies. I would watch it again tho.

The movie felt like one big missed opportunity. I think the filmmakers underestimated how much chemistry the three main actors would have, and split them up for far too much of the film. It felt like conflicting tones of ominous horror and adventure. There wasn't enough mystery around Valak, and there weren't really any twists.

I thought that this film was a pretty well made one. The protagonists worked well. Frenchie's comedic moments were a nice inclusion (which was surprising in a horror movie). The setting was also a good fit with great atmosphere. I was a bit disappointed that the scares relied almost entirely on 'jump scares'. There were good tense moments throughout, but I don't recall being scared.
