Very nice picturisation. Clearly highlighted the miss understanding which results in racism. Overall good movie

Very emotional movie! Had humor as well as very dramatic and sad scenes. Very relevant to current events. Made me see these events from a different point of view and how they affect loving families. Acting was great. Young woman that played the lead was exceptional!

I'm sure it's tough to adapt a book that's so heavy on internal dialogue, but "The Hate U Give" does a good job. The performances are great, especially from lead Amandla Stenberg and Russell Hornsby, who plays her father, and the film's message is a powerful one. There's also a jarring tonal shift about 15 minutes in that is incredibly effective. The book is better, but when is that NOT the case?
