I have mixed feelings about this movie. While I think it was incredibly powerful with very strong acting, it was quite an ordeal to sit through. It is a long movie that moves very slowly, largely because Lee, the central character, is dead inside. However, Casey Affleck does an extraordinary job portraying that character who has undergone unimaginable trauma.

Started very slow unknown characters in unknown setting then jumps to present day very hard to follow, some really sad moments about death and how people deal with death differently a few funny scenes then it just ends leaves you wondering how things turned out. Could have started with more or ended with more some very good acting but just not enough story to feel you paid for an experience. AP

Too slow and lame climax

I was interested in the premise of the dilemma facing Lee, but the story itself was very plodding, the movie seemed to go on way too long. Weird cinematography - I didn't get the constant peeks out the window at the inlet - and some plot points seemed contrived - most glaringly when Patrick went into Lee's room and saw the pics - why did he go in in the first place? His actions seemed very awkward
