Joy Ride is at the forefront of bringing back R rated comedies to the big screen. The cast embodied the true meaning of the word ensemble by bringing different strengths to the story. Even without literally being able to connect to the characters and setting I was easily pulled into the lives and adventures of the 4 main characters. Give it a sequel or make it a trilogy.

I absolutely loved every piece of the movie; from the humour to the heartfelt moments. I was thrilled to see so much character development among the group of gals that went on the trip so it was as if you were seeing multiple stories unfold and develop. Plus the nuances of being an immigrant made it feel relatable and "home".

Hilarious and heartwarming. While much of the content of the film seems universal, I’m not sure if some of the content specific to the Asian experience will resonate with a wide (non-Asian) audience. I certainly hope it will and, if not, hope that more films about Asian topics featuring Asian actors will continue to be made so that they eventually will appeal to non-Asians. Representation matters.
