Fences is an unconventional Denzel Washington film - no bang up action here, but thought provoking insight into a 1950's  middle age black man's take on his life & (lack of) accomplishments.If you are not a fan of (sometimes) long winded monologues & sensitive insights than this movie is not for you.Great supporting cast - Viola Davis (current wife) could easily be a candidate for best support

Wonderful acting performances from entire cast. Film stagnated at times. There are continuity issues in some of the scenes (particularly noticeable is one in the house in which Rose is setting out a meal in the background)

It wasn't what i expected. The acting was excellent of course but the overall story is not what i anticipated. After seeing it was a remake of a play that explained some but overall i wouldn't pay to see it, nor would I watch it again.

The acting was really great. Denzel had SO much dialogue and his delivery was really convincing and Viola Davis was great too.The 3/5 is more because I don't like depressing movies.
