Action, comedy and a good storyline about a very real issue for America right now. A good watch.

I loved the characters. I feel that they were funny and well drawn out throughout the story but in terms of the story it was a bit all over the place. I think the pacing was fine but the story itself caused some confusion.

Honestly, I expected more from PTA. While this film was well made technically, cinematography, acting, production design, sound design, the story dragged. The first act dragged on for too long. The film should have cut to the daughter in high school much earlier as we already got all of the information with the mom without needing to see the whole montage of her during witness protection. The last scene was simple but an effective scene that is earned throughout the film and a great resolution to the characters.

Stylish but bloated, this film starts with a sultry Bonnie-and-Clyde energy before jumping 16 years into darker territory. Car chases thrill, jokes land, and Sean Penn steals the show with a grotesque performance. DiCaprio holds steady, but Del Toro is frustratingly muted—reduced to quiet protector in what’s dubbed a “Latino Harriet Tubman situation.” Themes of racism, corruption, and human rights weigh heavy, dragging the pace. Worth a home watch, maybe the theater if you love chase scenes.
