It was a great in-depth psychological perspective on how the Joker came to exist. This kind of humanized his character which helps you to be more sympathetic towards him. There were some cringe worthy moments that drag on, but overall it was a good film, that just started off drab. Because of how complex the character was, I wouldn’t be surprised of an Oscar nomination in the future ;)

Amazing performance by Phoenix and solid direction kept this film, which could have been a trainwreck, coherent and cohesive. It was dark, certainly, and not a 'feel good' film, but I found it to be solidly reflective of our times and a respectable addition to the Batman/Joker array.
