Viola Davis was the shining star in this movie. Her acting was exceptional. I know that the movie was filmed many places in Pittsburgh but they must have cut a lot of scenes. Wish I could have seen more of Pittsburgh. I found myself realizing the movie was long and usually I never notice how long it is till it's over and I look at my watch. Some scenes were drawn out.

I was liking it enough until the ending, where I feel like either Wilson or Washington tried to force the audience to have a positive opinion of Troy, instead of letting us feel what we were going to naturally feel. It felt dishonest and undermined the moral complexity of the character and the film.

I'm a huge Danzel fan and the acting was excellent as always but I found the movie to be very boring. I had a hard time staying awake and this never happens to me with his movie. Overall....disappointing.

Very intense, personal drama with two great lead actors. Not for everyone.
