Excellent character development and definitely kept my interest. It was actually Hal Dockins, (Mamoudou Athie) who actually saved the day, first by finding Jamie Foxx and then by finding the link to the Baptist Church association connection. This could have been pointed up more.

Solid film with small issues that made it hard to fully immerse yourself in the beginning. One notable issue is that for about 30-45min you don’t really know the year that this was set in, but this could easily be fixed by adding it to earlier bottom thirds when listing the city. After a while, we figured out that since they were flying TWA and seeing the OK trial on tv, it was set in the 90s. Other than that Jamie Foxx was excellent and so were all of the supporting cast. Some weird shot choices aside, it was a very well done film.

The content of the trial is quite boring but it's based on a true story so not like they should have changed that. But the acting, interpersonal relationships that develop, and the confronting of the reality of racial tension was done beautifully. Definitely recommend!

Bad title - sounds like it would be a horror film! Good performances; good directing.
