It wasn't what I expected which is why I enjoyed the movie more. It was a combination of drama, action, sci-fi, and comedy. Loved Ryan Gosling's role in this film.

Good character development and balance of intensity, humor and emotion. Several times the background music seemed to be a mismatch to a given scene.

Fun adventure, enjoyably entertaining, but it went a bit long and was fairly predicable.

Thought it was an excellent screenplay and compelling story. It balanced the lifelessness of space with the life-filled Earth well. I expected more planet exploration so I was a little disappointed in that respect. The relationship with Rocky didn’t fully carry the movie for me as much as I wanted it to. I’m glad nobody died, thought the Petrova line stuff was amazingly done and interesting, and loved the ending where it gave Gosling a character arc into selflessness and something greater. Great movie with the right idea of what you are walking into.
