Really great performances and incredible sound design! One of my favorites of the year

A well acted and interesting film with a knockout performance by Riz Ahmed. I think the film does a great job of showing the struggles and alienation the deaf community has to deal with. I liked the film but I feel the ending was perhaps a bit too open-ended and should have been a bit longer. Some of the plot lines could have been resolved a bit more.\r\rWhat's his reasoning for not going back to the deaf community at this point assuming he unplugged his implants?\r

I think it was an engaging film throughout. Riz Ahmad’s performance was a true standout. I hope he is remembered when it comes to SAG and Oscar nomination time. What truly made this movie standout is its use of sound. As a viewer, you felt as though you were on Ruben’s journey with him. It made you more sympathetic to his plight as well as the actual deaf actors in the film. It was beautifully shot, acted, and directed.
