Although it was slow in a few parts, I enjoyed this movie -- the photography was stunning and the acting superb!

Good story based on Thomas Hardy novel, beautifully photographed, well acted by all principal players. However lead female and three male characters are more archetypes than fully realized personalities, so result is somewhat stereotyped portrayal.

I very much enjoyed this film adaptation of Thomas Hardy's novel. Carey Mulligan is captivating as our protagonist Bathsheba, a young woman whose independent spirit and circumstances lead her to some unfortunate times but, hopefully, also offer a chance for redemption.

Beautifully filmed. Very satisfying.
