The clever twists and turns of Thomas Hardy"s novel are carefully laid out in this beautiful movie. The actors are well suited for their roles, giving wonderful performances. The English manor & countryside settings are breathtaking. This is a lovely, thought-provoking, classy movie. I am telling all my friends to see this one!

Tragic, humorous and heartbreakingly sweet. Beautifully shot. All the leads are really well cast, especially Carey Mulligan. I'll watch it multiple times.

I enjoyed the movie. The photography was beautiful. The story was good (like the book). If I could give it 4 1/2 stars I would.
