it had an interesting story, although I caught the subtilis of in the storyline that suggests she was found with the scars on her neck and found by the water, I think it may have been lost for the most part in the movie, and maybe some people caught on in the end, masturbation seemed unnecessary, but the movie had good characters and the bad guy gets the death he deserved,goodcinematic feel

Watched El Laberinto del Fauno before seeing The Shape of Water at an advance screening. Although I am a del Torro fan, the two films follow the same pattern, and include many of the same elements [Doug Jones as the creature(s), old phonograph/records. bad guy who kills easily, etc.). It's almost like this is his English language Pan's Labyrinth. Not necessarily a bad thing, just an observation.
