Tonally true to the novel

Predictable and lacking in comedic relief.

The first half was good and then towards the end, the ecorcism part became unbelievable.

Not even worthy of Cult Classic status. Not enough of anything to be funny, or cautionary, or scary. Made for TV at best - not worth seeing at the theater. Characters were okay and actors did their best; but the plot was thin and the action weak. Best things were clothing and sets - definitely on point for the 80s. If you can't cope with scary movies, this is a good choice. Teen angst abounds; but there's no blood or monsters or anything else terrifying.
