It felt like people I know working through a reality I'm not so familiar with. Riz Ahmed and Olivia Cooke were believable at conveying the truth of being blindsided by tragedy. It is a storyline we have seen before but not under these circumstances or with these characters. It was familiar and fresh at the same time.

Sound of Metal is a great film! Riz Ahmed is amazing as he plays a musician having to deal with the harsh reality of losing his hearing. I loved the way the film brought us into Ruben's experience by letting us hear the way he was hearing(and not hearing) the world around him. The film beautifully brings us into a world we don't normally get to see. I could definitely see Sound of Metal going on to win some awards this year!

Profound movie that touches the inner soul as sometimes we can be blind to accept the new normal

Sound of Metal takes you into a world most of us will never experience fully, but which many might fear. Of all the senses for a musician to lose, hearing is possibly the most devastating to imagine. This movie does a good job of imparting just how life-altering hearing loss can be, but it makes the point also that it is not life-ending. Without your hearing, the feedback from the outside world, you are left with yourself, your inner strength, your higher reason for being. I highly recommend this movie.
