The most welcome and notable thing about The Shape of Water is its generosity of spirit, which extends beyond the central couple. Fantastic director Guillermo Del Toro clearly put everything he had into this wonderful monster-movie/romance, from a beautiful, labyrinthian visual scheme to a powerful story of love and empathy.

It was like watching a beautiful ballet on screen. I really enjoyed it besides it flaws.

It’s part sci-fi, part hidden figures, part the help, part love story. Really good and probably not something I would have sought out intentionally, but I enjoyed it!
