"The Promise" is a grand-scale epic of love, loss and tragedy in a world torn asunder by war and genocide. It recalls elements of "Dr. Zhivago" while painting a vivid picture of this tragic time in the former Ottoman empire.

Very enjoyable movie that makes you think.

Beautiful cinematography and superb acting from Bales, LeBon, and especially Isaac, tell this sad story. The movie did a fine job telling us of the heroes that stood up for Armenia in the early 1900s. For me, it was a history lesson. It was a sad reminder that history continues to repeat itself.

Eye opening. Was aware of the Armenian Genocide but this film brought to light the magnitude of some of the atrocities as we followed the romantic triangle of the characters.
