Unexpectedly violent

Clearly influenced by Tarantino, Drew Goddard did an amazing job at replicating his style and had everything he needed to make a much needed film after this year of catastrophes but failed to give us his unique style. This was a good movie. But in the end it’s a far lesser Tarantino more than it is a great Goddard. I look forward to his future in film but I hope it involves his own voice

The movie was a slow burning love letter to the Coen Brothers and Tarantino. However I could see their influence and styles in Bad Times, it failed to deliver the same feeling. Mimicry of the sources but without the genius story telling. The characters fell flat due to too much exposition with not enough depth to justify the time spent telling me what's going on with them and why I should care.

Solid acting by the all star cast, but feel like the third act was a bit of a let down. Too much going on to actually form a connection with any of the characters, but might be a little bit my fault for hoping to see a "Tarantino-esque" worthy film. Would recommend to others though.
