I have mixed opinions about it. On one hand it's a hard look at the history of Detroit, so it's important to see. However, it's extremely difficult to watch without getting upset. The movie lacked a resolution. Normally when the bad guys do something wrong they end up paying for it some how. This movie showed us that the bad guys totally got away with it so you leave the movie feeling defeated.

The movie was good. There were slow parts since most of the movie happened in the same room. I was expecting to get a back story on the characters. I only saw one about the guy who wanted to be a singer. We didn't get to learn about who they were so there was not a connection with the characters when they were beaten and/or killed. I didnt know the story so it was educational!

A superb film on a purely technical level (superbly acted, expertly directed and tightly edited) that somewhat falters in its handling of the subject matter. Its scope overreaches and its length doesn't allow for much thoughtful examination resulting in a voyeuristic film that tells but doesn't show. Real life anti-black violence is turned into cinematic 'edge of your seat' horror-show.
