I loved the action sequences in this film. I wish the audience had more back story on the main characters because some parts of the movie were confusing without knowing their history; which made some of the love scenes cringe-worthy. The comedy and action in the movie was great. Rihanna's cameo was brilliant and fun to watch as well. This movie all around is a good adventure movie.

Fun. Inventive. Beautiful. The leads had no chemistry and weren't compelling which is a shame because so much was very well done.

I would probably be more interested if I knew more about the comics. Aside from that, the visuals were awesome, the story line wasn't as much.

Visually unmatched. I was in awe of the universe & I wanted to spend days in it. The Big Market scene was incredible, as was Valerian's chase sequence in the middle of the film.Plotting, dialogue & chemistry, however, were very underwhelming. Dane Dehaan's Keanu Reeves impression was grating. I couldn't care less about the relationship between the two leads & their on-the-nose dialogue to each other almost played as comedy. "Admit it, you're afraid of commitment." There was also a huge exposition dump at the end that was a mix of information we already surmised & information that we could've been shown gradually throughout the film with tighter writing. Also, was Igon Siruss' promise to "find Valerian...& kill him" ever paid off?With better writing & casting this movie would easily be a 5-star. Regardless, I will recommend this film to friends solely on the audacity of the vision.
