Sweet, moderately funny and easy on the eyes. Mainly I enjoyed: the actors Emma Thompson, John Lithgow and Mindy Kaling (channeling Mary Tyler Moore), sprinkling of cameos; NYC area setting; rom-com vibe; "inside baseball" world of late night TV; Hero's Journey plot with all the trimmings (obligatory scenes and conventions, essential archetypes, etc.); crisp cinematography; apparent absence of CGI. I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10. I think Mindy Kaling did pretty well for a first outing ("when in doubt, write what you know," right?). I think she can do better in the future, and I hope she does.

I thought it was good. There were certain lines in the movie that were a tab bit insulting or eyebrow raising. But then again, it is the sign of the times. The comedy was just okay...not raucous. It was a pretty movie and at times predictable. But I liked both lead actors.
