I felt like Jean, the main character, was the least interesting person in the movie. This is partially due to an incredibly restrained performance by Rachel Brosnahan, but also the writing. Cal and Teri were much more interesting characters to me, and I especially wish there had been more of Cal. The story was good, but the editing needed to be tighter. For example there is a scene in a diner when Jean looks back at Teri and Cal, and I felt like the camera sat on Jean for far too long, and there wasn't a good reason for it. I did like the movie. I just wish Jean wasn't so underwritten.

The movie was slow paced but I still enjoyed it! My husband said it was Avery ‘deadass’ movie aka savage aka serious aka gangsta ! We had plenty of laughs and ooooo’s and ahhhh’s. Would watch again.

Well acted and well cast, with great production design, cinematography, and wardrobe. An engaging story that keeps you riveted. Unfortunately, it falls short in the end. Jean never has agency even up to the very end, and there is no real resolution.
