This was a fun movie, and it was great to see Emma Thompson & John Lithgow in these roles. I always love Mindy Kaling. However, this felt long to me, and like it was a condensed TV series. I think Kaling has great skill as a TV series writer, and this felt to me like it should have been a 6 or 8 show series, not a movie. There were numerous plot lines, many given short shrift due to time. The script also felt to me like it was giving every political cause it’s due. One movie cannot do everything, although I think that this one tried.

The director did not know a comedy or drama. Amy Ryan had a small role but was effected.

It was a good story. Too much bad language and too much crude sexual talk.

Story of a complacent late night show host who has given up on herself is is told to hire a woman, any woman as part of her writing staff. the new hire, a totally unqualified and inexperienced woman of color turns out to be just the right person to save the say.
