The gore was excessive. The scenery was lovely, but some of the editing could have used some work. While it was mostly true to the source material, a lot of the story was telegraphed, and the ending was very "white savior" coded. It wasn't the worst King movie, but it wasn't my favorite.

it was extremely boring. Everyone around us fell asleep. There was barely any action except when one of the boys got shot. What is the purpose of making a movie like this? It wasn't scary, wasn't action and wasn't comedy.. just weird

I enjoyed that the film did not shy away from violence and more gruesome nature of the walk/the boys getting their tickets. The acting between the two leads was fine, but the drama nature of the film was a bit cheesy

Excessively gratuitous with strong perfs from the leads. The premise creates more questions than it answers, as does the resolution. How does surviving the walk instill a renewed work ethic in the winner, and in America, exactly? It doesn't appear to have worked yet after all the long walks. In the end, the winner takes the less heroic route and opts for revenge instead of taking the high ground. As deeply anti-military as any film as I've seen in quite a while. A strong cast with some welcome humor.
