I was surprised at how much I liked this movie. I am not typically a fan of Tina Fey, however, she was perfect in this movie. She seemed like the average woman in her 40s in this situation. I could see myself in her. I work with Vets and the storyline was mostly realistic. My only note is that the language (p**sy, F*ck, D*ck, etc) translation portions might put off some conservative viewers.

right mix of comedy and drama, should be marketed as such too.

After viewing the trailer with a 'New York journalist goes to Afghanistan' story line I figured “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” (or WTF) would be a be played as a running 'fish out of water' gag. Not so. There is humour here but just enough to leaven the gravity of life for an embedded journalist near combat lines. Instead we get a slice of life glimpse into the lives of expatriates in a war zone.
