World building, performances and sheer scale of the film were impressive.

Generally a fun sci-fi epic. I was disappointed to see that it was being released in more than one part.

It stays faithful to the source material. It cuts down on a few scenes and characterizations (Especially Dr. Yueh) that I felt were important to the story, but it doesn't fail to capture the world and spirit of Frank Herbert's Novel. It's an easy recommendation to those who haven't read the seminal science fiction novel, but I might hazard caution to those who have, since not everything could fit.

This is an excellent adaptation of the first third of the initial entry in Frank Herbert’s Dune. Unlike the more upbeat and fun 1984 version, this one’s focus on the challenges highlights things that were missing from the initial attempt. The oppressive feeling soundtrack is what I enjoyed the most. Though people with hearing sensitivities should get some sort of warning!
