The film started very slow and appeared to be going nowhere. I felt the story spent way too much time developing the characters. However, the story finally did come together and proved to be quite dramatic indeed. Denzel and Viola are, as expected, FABULOUS. I expect to see a lot more Saniyya Sidney. Her talent radiates across the screen.

A movie that cover dysfunctional family dynamics, racial discrimination and life in the 50'sn a personal and graphic way. Viola Davis is amazing.

It shows different aspects of African American culture in a new way. Moreover, the dynamic between the father and son, the husband and wife, as well as between friends grayed the line between entertainment and inspiring message. Although the scene settings get stale, as there are only a few, but I definitely would recommend since it is well written with a lot of content.
