Acting was good but plot was a bit off. Not as funny as it could have been. Woodys character \rwas just not there, writing for him should have been better. just didn't flow but was good enough for 3 stars.

There was no continuity to the movie. There were too many gaps as the movie progresses. The characters of Ella and Casey need more development…we saw a few scenes on how they were growing up but not how their characters were developed. This movie has potential for being a good movie and relatable if the story’s character are more developed.

I thought this movie was a pleasant, if often unhappy, way to spend two hours. As much as I smiled, I will also say the movie strained credulity. What I think was supposed to be a believable situation and setting was often neither. Woody Harrelson has gotten too old to play the part of a philandering father. Jamie Lee Curtis reverts to a type very different from her norm.

I really wanted to like Ella McCay, but it just wasn’t good. The story dragged, the characters didn’t grab me, and it never really came together. It had a few okay moments, but overall it just missed the mark for me. I wouldn’t watch it again.
