The first three quarters play like a subtle psychological horror movie. Which surprised me, given what I had heard about it and the marketing surrounding the film. But I found it very compelling and on the edge of my seat for the entire middle act. That being said, I was expecting the final twist (which I do not see as a bad thing, I feel like most movies these days suffer when they try too hard to "surprise" their audience). But I was expecting the same amount of subtly as the rest of the movie, so I was disappointed in that respect and found the last ten minutes felt almost cartoonish
