Mindy Kaling is a star. Her character is funny & endearing and we cheer for her throughout the movie. Her experience as a writer in the field of comedy really shone through her script. Emma Thompson was amazing as a late night talk show host who’s ratings have been on the decline for years. Not only funny but a touching, thought provoking movie.

I thought the story was written well, acting was good. Because there was a high contrast of sad things in the show such as talk about cancer, Parkinson’s and depression I thought they would have very funny jokes to balance out reality. Much stronger jokes to balance out the sad extremes were needed.

I had read that it was a comedy. We found it more of a drama with a few funny parts, but mostly snickers, not laugh out loud funny. The acting was good, enjoyed Emma Thompson and John Lithgrow and Mindy Kaling was good, this is the first time I have seen her in anything, but would like to see her in something else. Glad I didn't have to pay to see this movie, but it was not bad.

Unique storyline. Is it a documentary? Is it a serious comedy? Either way it had some good laughs in it.
