As a physicist and as a woman in science, it was extremely inspiring. The passion for science that I typically associate with Marie Sklodowska Curie was beautifully portrayed by Rosamund Pike. \r\rThe pace of the movie was a little inconsistent. Especially, I felt that flashforwards were too much overexplaining. When thinking of the consequences of radioactivity, those images come immediately to mind without the need of being visually expressed in the movie, especially when done at the cost of breaking the narration. The walk of Marie through the hospital, however, was a real piece of art.

From a scientific point of view, it’s pretty accurate as that it was thought of being a man’s world and women should be at home as a housewife and mother. Marie’s character was kind of autistic. She was not very social and her savant characteristic was as a scientist. \rThe vial of green radioactive material was kind of distracting. Kind of reminded me of the large bottle in “Wicked.” And if you know that there is a possibility of causing anemia and leukemia, why would you carry it around let alone sleep with it?\rI enjoyed the movie but it’s not for everyone. Most friends wouldn’t like it.

Interesting learning more about her and how they showed how her discovery affected the world after her death as well as during her life.

I enjoyed it very much. It was a little trippy at times, and the flash forward/back was interesting. I am curious if the affair was at all historically accurate, but overall I thought this was a very good film.
