The movie was very good from beginning to end. It makes you laugh as well as makes you cry!!! This is by far one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while!!! It’s a must see!!

This movie was particularly moving given the current events in the U.S. It gives multiple viewpoints of the subject matter while intimately detailing how the main character, Starr, is caught between two worlds. The movie is a good stepping stone for discussing an issue we like to ignore in the U.S. I will be reading the book and discussing these issues with more of my friends and associates.

The movie was really well done touching on a topic that is very relevant right now. I like how they allowed the movie to be realistic and not try to sugar coat how these situations really are. It was great to see how she (and many black people) balance living two lives in different settings. Her father was a great character and was ultimately my favorite.

This film was brilliant and hit home for me. Each character's role was reveled just enough to not take away from the main focus of the film.i cannot wait to watch it again great acting great story. Real, raw and relevant. -Mels Mentality
