Beautifully acted by all, particularly Mulligan, Schoenarts, and Sheen. If any performance is weak, it's Sturridge. Design is stunning, but there are a couple of shots that obviously pan in and they are jarring and amateurish, and pull you out of the moment because they are so out of place. Also, while I know every novel has to be condensed in screenplay form, the flow of the story feels choppy.

Oh what a great love story!!! So timeless and beautifully directed. Loved it!!

Much better than I anticipated. As a movie, Hardy required editing and this was nicely accomplished without loosing the theme. Having seen and admired Julie Christy, I was concerned regarding the casting of Cary Mulligan but she was SUPERB. The rest of the cast did nicely. This would be a 5 star if I was not already familiar with the novel and the first movie. This movie version is superior.
