It was entertaining. It used the original as a blueprint to such a great extent it's almost a remake.

Fun to watch, but not much substance beyond that.

Top Gun: Maverick lacks back stories for the pilots, no new technology, forgot how to let go of the 80s and had the need for more editing. Luckily, Tom Cruise still delivers and manages to make it somewhat watchable. I'd recommend the beginning but once it starts getting into nostalgia territory & too much of the Rooster drama, I wouldn't recommend it.
