I believe that Ghost in the Shell was one of the closest adaptations of anime I have ever seen. The tone, message and overall world was captured and handled with great reverence and due to this approach there was a genuine awe that was felt during the film in how visually striking Major's world was.

Great visuals, atmosphere and action. Needs changes to about 20% of the movie, bit the other 80% is great.

Ghost in the shell was actually pretty good. I think they cleverly addressed why Scarlett Johansson's character was white. I love the movie is aesthetics. It was futuristic and neon yet gritty and grungy. The combat choreography was realistic not too overdone but still cool. While the premise felt familiar like aeon flux and resident evil is still felt innovative and new.
