Good actors , story told well. I wanted to know how mama died. Did not show that father was robbed and in coma. However I understand can only cover show so much in a movie. Learned a lot also

Jennifer Hudson has a spectacular performance as Arthea Franklin. She transported us back to the civil rights era with her authentic portrayal of singer, activist and friend of the Martin Luther King Jr. Her vocals and interactions the music moguls of the time were mesmerizing. Loved the portrayal of the family dynamics, it was gritty and real. A must see movie for fans and the general public.
