The movie had great visual effects but the entire middle act was very sluggish with flat dialogue. The story was a bit convoluted; why didn't they kill the Michael Caine character (except for future sequel purposes) instead merely casting a spell since the villain's purpose was to steal the Witch Queen's heart (which they got).

I was stoked for Vin Diesel with Elijah Wood, but that didn't carry me through for this flick. The beginning was okay, the middle was pretty good, but the last half dragged on forever! There were some pretty funny bits, but overall, too many stereotypical/predictable lines, especially toward the end. #RedboxIt

This is the kind of movie you wait to come on cable.

Fun - despite seeming completely improbable - to watch Elijah Woods as the witch defender. Some good shots and set/lighting moments.Overall, though, the story was limited and flat. One can hardly go wrong with a vengeful Vin Diesel and his wry/dry chuckle (that is, after all, the stuff his career has been made of), but this was no Pitch Black. Waste of talent, all around.
