Coming into the film after watching the trailer, I did not expect to like the film but I actually loved it. Shailene Woodley offers an emotion filled, powerful performance alongside Sam Claflin and their chemistry on screen was believeable and while cliche/corny at times, I loved their relationship and cute moments. The story of Tami Oldham is so inspiring and tragic, and I had the pleasure of seeing her at the screening. The film is full of gorgeous shots and cinematography (I love Robert Richardson’s work) as most of the film is shot in open water, an incredible feat by the director, captain, and cast. I loved the use of a nonlinear narrative and the ending was powerful, slightly unexpected, and hard hitting (even with the Disney sounding end song). I would recommend this film for adventurous, wanderlust filled people and those seeking a true story of an inspiring, brave woman.

Very emotional and touching. Some scenes brought me to the edge of my seat and seemed very realistic which captured the fact that it's based on a true story. Besides that, the casting was spot on. Shailene Woodley and Sam Clafin fit the roles very well that it was not difficult to connect with the real characters they played as. A tragic ending to this story but was greatly told through this film.
