I brought my 13 year old,and she just didn't "get it." I thought it was very well done, and the monsters transformation was absolutely great!

It was a good movie. It had some twist that made you have to follow closely.

I think that the book was better. I didn't feel as tied to the emotional arc in the movie as the book. Maybe trying to fit too much into movie. It felt like you were being told the story too much vs experiencing it. Maybe book just doesn't translate into this media well.

I'm confused as to who the audience is for this movie - seems like it's geared to kids/families but also pretty heavy and sad. I though the main child character was an amazing actor.
