Unfortunately, it's a bit more challenging to accept Wahlberg as the rebellious writing prodigy with a privileged background, who articulates in a motor-mouthed rapid-fire onslaught of derisive observations meant to prove how he so despises mediocrity. It's obvious Wahlberg is "all in" for this role, but it's difficult not to compare to the more nuanced performance of Caan forty years ago.

I liked the script and dialog between caracters. i thought Jessica Lange did an excellent job. Mark was good and i liked John Goodman as a lone shark except i could have done without seeing him half naked.

Good movie, a little slow at times but I really enjoyed it wasn't a stereotypical ultra violent drama. The acting was great especially Jessica Lange as always. I really enjoyed the message the movie sent. Your life is what you make of it, even if you are handed everything it doesn't create happiness.

Overall, a middle of the road film. Mark Wahlberg's work was very good as always. John Goodman should win an award. His work was excellent.
