Interesting history to add to the mix.

I liked how the movie revealed Snow’s origin story and showed a different side to him. I also appreciated the several nods to Katniss with Lucy Gray singing the song Katniss would come to learn and sing in later years, as well as Lucy Gray nicknaming the flower Katniss was likely named after. It made the viewer stop for a moment to consider Lucy Gray’s true relationship with Katniss, as well as her overall significance in the story.

Francis Lawrence creates visuals that lend to the world audiences adore while allowing it to feel fresh. Viewing the games from Snow’s pov in the capital more than Lucy’s was a different kind of story that is just as compelling to watch. However, personally not a fan of title cards splitting the film into parts like the book. It takes me out of it and puts me wanting to compare. Not as much action as previous movies as the games we not as much of a focus in the film. Rachel Zegler’s voice is stunning to hear songs we cherish from the series. Overall great movie!
