One of the best films this year! A beautiful depiction of black love - through all things thick& thin. The love story of Robert and Sylvie is timeless in its depiction of sacrifice and dedication to supporting another persons pursuit of their dreams all while being intertwined with an unwavering spirit of love. It is being earmarked in my book for “ timeless and classic love movie”. From costuming to scene staging and all the character development — I cannot wait to watch it again!

Sylvie's Love was a step back into a time when love was "simply complicated." The camera lens that the director chose walked us down memory lane and left me with the feeling that I was watching a film that should have been made in the 60s, but wasn't. This movie should go into the canon of love stories/coming of age narratives. Showing how love changes and matures overtime. How love has pitfalls and times when we should just listen. There were a few moments when I thought the film would take a tawdry turn, but it didn't. They stuck to the PG-13 rating and left me rooting for Sylvie.
