It had some good references to the original, so die-hard fans of the original will appreciate several scenes. However, there were parts that really dragged or just seemed to detract from the story.

It had been 20 years or so since I saw the original, so I didn't remember that much about it, and I think I would have enjoyed the movie a bit more if I did. That said, it was shot in an energetic, visually-interesting style and worked most of the time; the gross-out stuff wasn't really needed though.

Sequel tried a little too hard but reminded viewers how great the first one was.
