Story line wasn't great but the music alone, worth the price of admission. Jafaar was great portraying Michael. The guy who portrayed Joe was good too.

felt like it was written by a committee with slow pacing and obvious issues around family politics and music licensing

As a huge MJ fan this film was mediocre and I was disappointed seeing Diana Ross was cut and the film excluded his siblings Rebbie, Janet and Randy. The storyline was weak--Joe came off as a caricature villian and MJ moreso as a childish boy even into adulthood rather than the real musical genuis that he was. The computer generated animals made this so fake! The best scene of the whole movie is the closing scene peformance of BAD.

More like watching a cover band than watching a movie. Bad acting, directing, film editing. It felt like it wanted there to be humor but bombed the jokes and wanted emotional weight but the writing didn’t have that. Michael Jackson either smiles or is scared and his dad is a greedy bully. Neither have depth. And you don’t get to know what drives Michael, inspires him, what drew people to him. And the other characters are NPCs. His brothers and mother and lawyers and bodyguard only vaguely exist.
