I'm no fan of period piece movies but this one entertained me for about 2 hrs. Judi Dench became the old cranky monarch of the British empire and India who takes a liking to a man from India who was sent there to present her with a coin. They seemed to learned a lot from each other as they spend time together. But there are those in her inner circle who are displeased with this relationship, including her own son Bertie. Friction develops between the queen and her moogie when he misstates some events in India. He is also discovered as being a commoner, not of royality in India. Who wins out?

Beautifully done! Outstanding performances, costumes and photography. Very interesting piece of history, very needed for this actual time.

A great take on an untold story. Judi Dench portrays Queen Victoria exactly as you would imagine.

I had no idea this man actually existed. I thoroughly enjoyed the history lesson and Dame Judi's acting was sheer perfection.
