Enjoyed the acting! Tough to imagine the inhuman treatment of the inmates

Tough to watch but a well made film.

The main actors performed very well, especially Tahar Rahim who played the title role. He was able to evoke the full range of anger, suffering and horror, while at times being funny, self-deprecating and charming. That was a feat. The movie was also well directed, in that it showed the evil and the good in everybody, that is, it did not just over-simplify by casting as the US military as evil and the lead actor as a heroic victim. My only complaint is that it was too long at more than two hours. I would have also wanted more scenes from Mauritania and his family.
