I couldn’t watch the entire movie due to it continually starting over. However, I saw all but 20 minutes of it. The performances were great by the mother and son. Gerard butler was also good but I’ve seen him do better. There were some flaws in the Type 1 diabetes but it’s closer than I’ve seen on tv and film. When he has to go back for the insulin my heart stopped until the mom found her son and the nice nurse gave them a weeks worth of supplies. This was almost too triggering for me, a mom of a T1D. The thought of a disaster and not having insulin gave me so much anxiety. The mom finding the son after kidnapping was far fetched but I still bought into it because the mom was so good at showing fear and panic and then relief. The plot itself seemed realistic but the timing of release in this film was ill timed during a pandemic - trading one disaster for another is not what I felt like watching. That said, I’ll have to rent the movie now to know what happens but even if they get to Greenland safely, they won’t have enough insulin so the thought of the kid dying slowly is too much. I’m not sure how it could end where I believe they all are safe unless the big comet misses the planet. I’ll still recommend this to friends as a well acted movie and edge of your seat disaster film but not one of the best.

A little bit too intense

Lots of action, but too predictible.

Great performances by the lead actors, very exciting first half of the film, and great CGI & special effects. The second half was more predictable, some side stories didn't seem necessary and the fight scene in the back of the truck was not edited very well, for my taste at least.
