I really enjoyed this movie. It kept my attention throughout.

I really enjoyed this movie. The sets and costumes were so beautiful and well-done and the acting really pulled you in. I have to admit, I really enjoyed seeing a film with African American main characters where the plot wasn't trauma about race. So few movies do that. This was a story about a woman with dreams she refused to compromise, finding a way back to the love of her life, that anyone could relate to. Hopefully, more movies will take the stance that audiences can relate to characters of different races without it being a whole ordeal.

I enjoyed it. Loved the period feel.
